Last week we covered the things you can do to prolong the life of your ultrasonic cleaner, so this week we are going to cover the things that you should not be doing that can hurt its performance.
What You Should NOT Be Doing…
Do Not Try to Repair on Your Own
We all have that little DIY bug inside of us that makes us want to rip something open and fix it ourselves, but these machines operate under very high voltage and if you do not know what you are doing, you could get seriously hurt, damage the machine, or both.
Never Fill Take with Combustible Liquid
We have seen YouTube videos where people are using some rather idiotic “cleaners” for greasy items, such as gasoline or alcohol. We cannot say this strongly enough… NEVER FIILL THE TANK WITH FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS. If you buy a tank from Omegasonics, our team will work with you to ensure you are using the ideal detergent for your specific cleaning project, so please do not deviate from that to ensure the safe operation of the tank.
Always Wear Protection
If you are operating a tank, you never want to put an unprotected body part into the tank. When using the tank, be sure to wear thermal gloves and goggles. The gloves will prevent the detergent from touching your skin, which, depending upon the strength of the detergent, may cause some irritation. The goggles are self-explanatory, as you do not want any detergent splashing into your eyes.
Do NOT Use Bleach
Bleach does not react well to the cavitation process that is the key to the effectiveness of the machine. Consult with our team to find a better alternative.
Never Set Parts Directly on the Bottom of the Tank
When you are using your tank, you never want a part being cleaned to come into direct contact with the bottom of the tank. Instead, use our baskets, trays, and suspension systems to keep them off the bottom. The reason for this is the cavitation that is created could result in the parts puncturing the bottom of the tank and creating a leak. Additionally, if the parts are directly in contact with the bottom of the tank, they will start moving in the tank and may not be completely cleaned at the end of the cycle.
