We often talk about how much safer an ultrasonic cleaner is to use than chemical methods that are the norm in many industries. Having said that, you still need to use safe practices to ensure both you and the equipment are protected. This keeps you and your staff safe while at the same time extending the life of the equipment.
Play It Safe
If you are like me, you usually take the operations manual when you get a new toy, set it aside, and hope the new product you are about to use is intuitive enough to use without reading the directions. Do us a favor, and do not do that for this equipment. We want to make sure your investment pays off, so take a few minutes to read the manual and learn the ins and outs of operating your new cleaning equipment.
Personal Safety
Never reach inside an ultrasonic tank in the midst of a cycle to inspect the parts to see if they are being cleaned properly. Your skin could be burned from the heat of the cleaning solution as well as the cavitation. As a safety measure, always wear protective gloves when operating the machine.
Some of the lower operating frequencies can create a bit of an annoying buzz, so you may want to wear an ear protection device when operating the machine to avoid the annoyance.
Safe Operation
For best operation, we recommend having a dedicated outlet for the cleaner to operate. Do not share the outlet with other equipment if possible to avoid a circuit overload. You also want to avoid using an adapter or extension cord.
Equipment Safety
Avoid placing items directly in the bottom of the tank. We recommend using one of our baskets to keep the equipment in place as well as not damaging the bottom of the tank from the cavitation, which can cause the equipment to move around and possibly puncture the bottom of the tank (if the surface of the device is sharp or pointed).
Maintain proper bath levels at all times (this is often indicated by the fill line in the tank). With regular usage, fluids will evaporate, and that level can go down significantly if you are not paying attention. At no time should the machine be operated if it has fallen below the two-thirds fill level. We recommend checking your level before every to prevent any issues on this front.
As always, if you ever have any questions with the operation of your Omegasonics ultrasonic cleaner, you can always reach out to a member of our staff at 888-989-5560.
