If you are a serious fisherman, you know one of the secrets to success is to have clean, well-maintained equipment. I can remember fishing as a kid, and the first thing my father made us do when we got back home was to disassemble and clean our equipment. I also remember how tedious it was, which is where ultrasonic cleaners come in.
Why Use an Ultrasonic Cleaner for Fishing Reels?
I will give you the three main reasons you need to get an ultrasonic cleaner for your fishing reels:
- Deep cleaning
- Preservation
- Time-saving
Deep Cleaning – simply put, there is no more effective way to deep clean your equipment than by using an ultrasonic cleaner. The cavitation created by the ultrasonic waves will carry microscopic bubbles to every surface and crevice, ensuring the cleaning solution removes all those fine particles and contaminants you cannot even see. For deep-sea fishing, this is particularly effective for cleaning and extending your equipment’s life.
Preservation – clean and well-maintained equipment lasts longer… not exactly a secret. Fishing can get grimy, especially when you are working in salt water, so you want to make sure all that debris is off the reel after a trip to help extend the life of performance of the equipment. If you allow the equipment to go uncleaned trip after trip, you are going to be headed back to Bass Pro Shops before you know it to buy all new equipment.
Time Saving – we talk about this all the time because for most people, this is the number one reason they purchase an ultrasonic cleaner. Cleaning fishing equipment is a very time-consuming task, and I am sure you have better things to do than to break everything down, wash it by hand, then rewash the areas you missed. Wouldn’t you rather have something that would clean your reels the first time, every time, and do so in a matter of minutes rather than hours?
Cleaning Tips
Always break down the reel into its primary components to ensure the ultrasonic waves and cleaning solution reach every part.
Once the equipment is broken down, give it a quick rinse so any loose contaminants fall off and do not go into the tank.
Fill the tank, add the proper cleaning solution, then add the parts to the basket. The cycle will run about 10-15 minutes depending upon the reels (our team can help with detergent and settings).
Once the cleaning cycle is over, give the parts a quick rinse to ensure all detergent is washed off.
Reassemble and lubricate.
Now, instead of spending hours, it will take you less than an hour to do everything.
