Buying an ultrasonic cleaner can be a significant investment for a home or business owner. We want to make sure you get every ounce of cleaning out of the machine over the expected lifespan on the tank, so we have put together some quick tips to follow to help you maintain your ultrasonic cleaner.
What You CAN Do…
Keep Detergent Fresh
All detergent has a lifespan, so you want to make sure that from time to time, you are completely draining the tank, cleaning it out, discarding the detergent, and using a fresh supply. As you continue to clean items in the tank, the dirt and debris that comes off the items starts to break down the cleaning agent, so it becomes less effective over time.
Unplug the Unit
When the unit is not in use, you can unplug it to avoid being charged for “phantom” power. Additionally, whenever you are draining the tank, you want to make sure the unit is unplugged, which helps avoid two problems. First, water and electricity, as you know, are a bad mix. Second, pulling the plug alleviates the problem of accidentally turning the machine on and having the elements heat up with nothing in the tank, which could burn them out.
Changing the Filters Regularly
This ties into the point above. The filtration system in the tank works very hard to clean all the debris, but filters do have a lifespan to them. Just like the detergent, the longer they are in there, the less effective. Changing the filters regularly not only keeps the machine running properly, but it will also extend the life of your detergent.
Use Water-based Detergents
You will notice we always use the term cleaning agent or detergent, and there is a reason we do that. Chemical-based cleaners are generally called solvents, and they do not work well with our tanks. Not only that, they are dangerous to the environment and to people (as well as your fur babies!), so always make sure you are using the recommended water-based detergents in your machine.
Spray Down Parts Before Putting into Tank
This is quick step that can pay off significantly over the long haul. By giving the parts a quick spray or wipe down, you are removing excess debris that would normally come off in the tank. Every bit of gunk that is removed does not end up in the tank, which means it does not find its way to the filter, so you are prolonging the life of your detergent and filter by this quick step.
